Begun in 1994 by Jack Wilken, co-founder of INNER SOUND and certified Postural Integrator, SOUND BODY has evolved into a blending of the INNER SOUND Tuning Forks, East and West fine energy work, the therapeutic music of Arden Wilken, and work with the voice.
If each strand were given a color — one for sound, one for fine energy work, and one for movement and gentle self-massage — then each session is a different swirl and intensity of color, put together around what you want to work with at the time. Each session is stand-alone, and the blending of the elements depends on where you want or need to go at this point in time. Sessions are 1 hour and 15 minutes.
By Zoom
Sessions are normally held by Zoom, and you take an active part rather than receiving the session quietly. Depending on what you bring and on how the session unfolds, the work you do yourself may include your own voice, the breath, gentle self-massage, simple movement and posture, and visualization. Anything physical is shown to you first, and you are sitting for most of a session. No two sessions are put together the same way.
In presence
Sessions in presence are occasionally arranged, usually at the client’s own home in the Seattle, WA area. In presence the blend can also include hands-on massage and body work, as it did when the work was first developed. Please ask if that is what you are looking for.
Are lubricants used
Perhaps. It depends on the focus of the session and if it is in person. If Postural Integration strokes (deep tissue) are incorporated, then, no. Lubricants don’t facilitate the tissue opening for the depth of those strokes. If more massage strokes, such as gliding (effleurage), are used, then, yes, lubricants will be used to reduce drag.
Frequency
This is completely individual. If standing sessions are desired, once a week or every 2 weeks give the most consistent change.
